AI-based voice call scams have become a big issue across the globe and Truecaller claims it has the best weapon to tackle the menace and prevent you from getting scammed. The platform has worked on a feature called AI call scanner, which, as the name suggests, will scan for these scam calls using its AI-powered tech.
People are falling into the AI-powered calls that can be hard to differentiate for the layman, so it is vital that features like these are available to a wider audience.
Truecaller AI Call Scanner: How It Works
The company has developed its AI model which is capable of analysing the voice in these calls. Truecaller claims the monitoring is done in real-time and shared with the user in a few seconds. The call analysis is done using the AI tech which listens to the recordings of the call for a few seconds and gives the user the details about its nature.
The AI Call scanner will do its work only when you tap on the bar which is right below the name of the caller on the Truecaller dialer UI. The company claims to have trailed its AI model to particularly monitor these calls for specific traits of an AI voice call which will sound different from human voices.
The platform will understandably pack this AI feature within its premium model, and currently, it is only coming for the Truecaller users in the US, with the likes of India and other countries getting it in the coming months. Going by the sophistication and access of the feature, it will only work for Android users and we don’t expect Apple to open its arms for Truecaller even if the feature is actually helpful to millions.
Voice calls have become a dangerous and an easily available weapon for bad actors which has affected many people recently. Caller ID helps when you get spam calls or any possible contact that is not added on your list. However, AI tech is making these calls sound genuine, so you need AI to cut the threat posed by the technology.
