Buddha Purnima is a major Buddhist festival that commemorates the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later became Gautam Buddha and founded Buddhism. In India, Buddha Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day of Vaisakha month in the Hindu calendar. This year, Buddha Purnima falls on May 23, 2024. However, countries like China, Japan, Bhutan, and Thailand go by their own lunar-solar calendars, so their date of Buddha Purnima varies.
