The BCCI had also mentioned that much care has been placed this year to tend to the physical well-being of players, with effective breaks between matches and tournaments scheduled to ensure the same.

The BCCI released the respective schedules for the men’s and women’s domestic tournaments for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The season is set to commence with the prestigious red-ball cricket tournament, the Duleep trophy on September 5. This will be followed by the Irani Trophy in October.

In terms of white-ball cricket, the acclaimed Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy is set to begin from November 23, followed by the Vijay Hazare trophy, which will commence on December 21.

“The Domestic Home Season 2024-25 has been meticulously planned, taking into account multiple factors to fortify the core of domestic cricket while prioritising player well-being,” the BCCI said in a press release.

Changes Introduced

In an interesting change, a new change has been proposed for the CK Nayudu Trophy, where the toss is being abolished. Instead, the visiting team shall have the privilege of electing to bat or bowl first.

In another fascinating turn of events, the Ranji Trophy has been broken up into two separate phases, with the league stage taking place in October and the knockouts resuming from February after a brief break.

Another notable anecdote has been the omission of the Deodhar trophy once again, which was reintroduced after a four-year hiatus last year.
