The longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe star Tom Hiddleston’s journey as the beloved Loki seemingly came to an end. The Disney Plus show received immense love from the audience, with fans now eagerly waiting for the third season. However, the potential for Loki’s continuation into Season 3 is still uncertain, especially after the God of Mischief sacrificed himself and became a living Temporal Loom for the Sacred Timeline. Amid all the speculations and fans’ desperate wait, Tom Hiddleston opened up about the future of his character and also spoke on whether there would be a Thor-Loki reunion.
Tom Hiddleston Speaks On Loki’s Popularity
Reflecting on the constant demand for Loki’s return, Tom Hiddleston spoke about why the Marvel character still remains very popular after all these years. “I’ve realised that, in human consciousness, that’s who Loki is. He is this ancient, mythic character, who, in our collective mythology, represents the trickster, the transgressor, the boundary-crosser, the shape-shifter—somebody who’s mercurial and spontaneous and unpredictable who will always confound your expectations and wriggle out from underneath your certainties and convictions. Someone who we need and is necessary,” he told Backstage Magazine.
Notably, Tom Hiddleston, who has been playing Loki for years now, presently sits on the time throne, holding the Multiverse together until the next crossover. While the second season finale suggests an end to his chapter, fans are still not ready to let go of him.
Earlier, during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 42-year-old actor was seen drawing curtains on his iconic character.
Speaking to Fallon, Tom Hiddleston shared that his Marvel journey has reached its conclusion. “It’s the conclusion to season 2, the conclusion to seasons 1 and 2, and also the conclusion to six films, 12 episodes, and 14 years of my life,” he said.
Will The Asgardian Brothers Reunite?
Going by the current MCU timeline, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor thinks Loki is dead after Avengers: Infinity War. Thus, it will be interesting to see how brothers reunite. Talking to ComicBook’s Phase Zero podcast on whether it would be possible, Tom Hiddleston said that a meeting between Loki and Thor “would be one of extreme surprise and confusion, in a way.”
However, the actor didn’t spill any beans on whether there was a possibility. Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that MCU’s Avengers 5 may bring back more than 60 characters including Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, Loki, and others.
