Russia dismissed as “absolute slander” a Microsoft report that said it was ramping up a disinformation campaign ahead of the Paris Olympic Games in July. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the Microsoft report as "blanket criticism that has no basis whatsoever." Microsoft in its June 2 report claimed that Russia is ramping up disinformation campaigns against France, its President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Olympics. The report revealed that Russian cyber-actor groups, Storm-1679 and Doppelganger, have pivoted operations over the past year to directly target the Olympics using fake AI generated audio impersonating the actor Tom Cruise.
