NVS Announces Recruitment For Counselors In Jawahar Vidyalaya Residential Schools

Candidates who want to become Navodaya Vidyalayas counsellors should have a master’s degree in psychology and at least one year of diploma in guidance and counselling.

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has announced a recruitment drive for the position of counsellor in Jawahar Vidyalaya Residential Schools. Interested candidates can apply for the post by visiting the official website: NVS Official Website. The drive aims to fill multiple vacancies across the country.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the counsellor position must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A master’s degree in psychology and a one-year diploma in guidance and counselling.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience in a related field.
  • Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen or possess a valid work permit.

Age Limit

Applicants must be between 28 and 50 years of age as of June 1, 2024.

Application Fee

The application fee for general candidates is Rs 500. However, SC, ST, and Divyang candidates are exempt from the fee.

Selection Procedure

The selection process consists of a qualifying exam followed by a personal interview.

Qualifying Exam

The exam is scored out of 70 marks, distributed as follows:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • MA or MSc degree in psychology: 10 marks
    • Diploma in guidance and counselling: 10 marks
    • Graduation in psychology: 10 marks
    • MPhil or PhD in psychology: 10 marks

  • Experience: Two marks for each year of relevant experience, up to a total of 18 marks.
  • Additional Certifications: Certificate courses in cognitive behaviour therapy skills or ADHD will add 12 marks.

Interview

Candidates who pass the qualifying exam will be invited for a personal interview, which carries 30 marks. The interview will last for 30 minutes and will assess:

  • Knowledge of the subject
  • Communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Proficiency in regional languages
