Mouni Roy has assured the actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani that she will always stand by her side. Irani, who was a Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, was seeking her re-election from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi in the Lok Sabha elections. However, she lost her seat to Congress’s Kishori Lal Sharma on Tuesday (June 4).
After the results were announced, Smriti Irani took to her Instagram handle to issue a statement. She conceded defeat, congratulated her victorious opponent and shared that she will continue working for Amethi’s people.
“Such is life… A decade of my life going from one village to another, building lives, nurturing hope & aspirations, working on infrastructure – roads, naali, khadanja, bypass, medical college and more. To those who stood by me through loss and victory, I am forever grateful. To those celebrating today, congratulations. And to those asking, ‘How’s the josh?’ I say- it’s still high, Sir,” she wrote. However, soon after Smriti shared the note, Mouni Roy rushed to the comments section and wrote, “Always with you”. Mouni and Smriti worked together in Ekta Kapoor’s popular show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’.
Meanwhile, Neena Gupta also reacted to Smriti’s Amethi loss and wrote, “Keep working hard that’s it”. Actor Aashka Goradia also showed support for Smriti and commented, “With you EVERYDAY! Nothing has and nothing will ever stop you from the good that you do! Full Power”.
Smriti Irani also spoke to the media on Tuesday when she said, “I express my gratitude to all the BJP party workers and supporters, those who have worked in the service of the constituency and the party with utmost dedication and fidelity. Today, I am grateful to PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that their governments have completed the pending works of 30 years in just 5 years.” The BJP leader also assured the people of Amethi that she has and will continue to work for the constituency despite the win or the loss. “I congratulate those who win. I will continue to be in the service of the people of Amethi,” she added.
