Some things are best left untouched, don’t you agree? Take coffee, for example—it already has a dedicated fan base and everyone enjoys it in their own preferred way. Whether black or with milk, sweetened or sugar-free, there’s a variety of options to suit different tastes. However, experimenting with coffee by adding onions seems a bit extreme. Yet, surprisingly, a food blogger did exactly that.
In a video doing rounds online, food blogger Calvin Lee prepares coffee using onions. The clip starts with Lee adding slices of onions to the usual coffee. After blending it, he goes on to try the same. As the video proceeded, Lee also reviewed the unconventional coffee recipe saying, “The spicy onion flavour makes the coffee tastes extra bitter. I don’t like it. A very uncomfortable cup of coffee.”
The caption along with the post read, “I love onion, but not with coffee.”
Since being shared, the post has been flooded with various reactions. One of the seemingly baffled users reacted, “There are foods that we know should never be combined. Our noses tell us no before our tongue does. Just why?
Another one joined in to express, “Weeks ago, I watched coffee with spring onions or chivez. A few days ago, I watched coffee with chillies…now coffee with onion. What’s next?”
Someone said, “The second I saw onions I knew it would be a bad idea.”

Not long ago, another bizarre dish caught the Internet’s attention. It was coffee-infused, Maggi. The dish involved cooking the Maggi noodles with coffee powder, the video of which instantly went viral. Commenting on it, an Instagram user joked, “When you can’t afford both Maggi and cold coffee together, just mix it, because mom only gave money for Maggi.”
