Australia had a victorious start to their World Cup campaign after defeating Oman by 39 runs at Kensington Oval, Barbados on Thursday (June 6).
After being put to bat first, Stoinis 67* (36) and David Warner 56 (51) helped Australia post 164/5 in 20 overs.
Skipper Marsh and Travis Head contributed with 14 and 12 runs, before falling prey to Oman pacers.
After a poor IPL season, Maxwell still seemed to be struggling to find form as he got dismissed for a duck by Mehran Khan.
During their run chase, Oman were three down in the powerplay with just 29 runs in their rack.
Wickets kept on falling ever since, with Ayaan Khan and Mehran Khan being the only ones providing some stability by scoring 36 and 27 respectively.
A key part of their doom was Marcus Stoinis’ three-fer in three overs, by conceding 19 runs.
Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa also picked up two wickets each, restricting Oman to 125/9 in 20 overs.
