Sonakshi Sinha said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has his trust in her as an actor and that she would be able to pull her character off.

Sonakshi Sinha is currently making headlines for the much-awaited web series Heeramandi. Recently, the actress shared her experience of working with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and playing her character Fareedan. This news is currently garnering everyone’s attention. Let’s take a look.

In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, Sonakshi Sinha shared her experience playing the role of Fareedan in Heeramandi. This is the first collaboration between Sonakshi and ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

In the interview, Sonakshi said, “This is a character I have been waiting to do for a very long time. I have always wanted to play a slightly negative, slightly villainous character, and I am thankful to Sanjay sir that he saw me in this role. I don’t know how or why, but I guess that’s just his trust in me as an actor that I will be able to pull it off. It is motivating for an actor when a director like him imagines and attempts to depict you in a way that no one has ever seen you before. So I am so grateful. It has been one of my favourite characters that I have played on-screen.”

Sonakshi further said that she thinks Sanjay Leela Bhansali has given her a great opportunity by giving her the role of Fareedan. “The character is a complete ‘Mirchi’. Wherever she goes, she adds spice,” Sonakshi added.

She further added that, for her, the last 7-8 years as an artist, doing different roles and portraying very strong female characters on screen has been a constant endeavour. She added that for Akira, she took the first step to move away from commercials and masala potboilers and choose different genre films. Since then, she has constantly tried to play great roles that were different from each other.

Sonakshi also said she has been lucky since her first OTT release, Dahaad, and now Heeramandi. She bagged two big shows. She shared that she feels blessed to be a part of these two series and play these two beautiful characters. Her efforts to play a strong female lead and give the audience a Sonakshi that they have never seen before will continue, she added.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is backed by Bhansali Productions and Prerna Singh. The series also features Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah in pivotal roles. Heeramandi will premiere on May 1 on Netflix.
