After starring in Upadhyaksha, actor Chikkanna is all set to play the lead role again in an upcoming film. According to reports, director AP Arjun, known for films like Addhuri, Ambari, Kiss and Mr. Airavata, will produce the project. The film will be directed by Rajguru Bheemappa, who made his directorial debut with Kerebete.
It is worth noting that Kerebete, directed by Rajguru and starring Gowri Shankar, recently completed 50 days in theatres. It has also been reported that the film will go into production only after the release of AP Arjun’s directorial venture Martin, starring Dhruva Sarja. Martin is slated to hit the theatres on October 11. Apart from Chikkanna’s project, Arjun is also producing Addhuri Lover, starring Virat and Priyanka Kumar, and he has another project in the pipeline.
Further details about the film are still under wraps, but reports say the film is being touted as a commercial drama with a lot of emotions. Chikkanna, who has over 250 films to his credit and is best known for his comedic performances, found instant success in the lead role of Upadhyaksha.
Upadhyaksha is directed by Anil Kumar and is set in a village. Produced by Umapathy Srinivas Gowda, the film features debutante Malaika Vasupal in the female lead role. Upadhyaksha was well received because it features Chikkanna in a heroic role. Meanwhile, Chikkanna is in talks with a few more directors who are close to finalizing projects in the lead roles.
Chikkanna started his acting career in comedy shows in Mysore with Drishya Kalavide. After that, he appeared in the comedy Kiladigalu in Zee Kannada and Prank Show which aired on Udaya TV. Actor Yash noticed his performance during the diamond jubilee celebrations of Kannada cinema and cast him in the film Kirataka in 2011. He played roles opposite Yash and Sharan in Raja Huli (2013) and Adyaksha (2014). In the 2015 film Sharp Shooter, he acted opposite Diganth and wrote the lyrics for the track Kuntebille.
