The BTS-inspired K-drama Begins Youth's trailer resurfaced online. It is expected to be released sometime this year on OTT platform.

South Korean boyband BTS, featuring Jungkook, Jimin, Jin, J-Hope, SUGA, V, and RM enjoys a global fandom. Their admirers proudly identify themselves as the BTS Army. Keeping in mind the popularity surrounding the septet, the group’s entertainment company Hybe Corporation had earlier announced a BTS-inspired K-drama originally titled YOUTH. Renamed Begins Youth, the much-anticipated web series was initially set to release in 2020 but was pushed back to November 2023. According to reports the drama is now ready to premiere sometime this year. No sooner than the rumours of Begins Youth’s release started doing the rounds, the trailer of the upcoming show once again resurfaced online.

The trailer circulating on X (formerly Twitter), has given an insight into the characters of Begins Youth. The seven boys who have been roped in to play the lead are Seo Ji-hoon, Noh Jong-hyun, Ahn Ji-ho, Seo Young-joo, Kim Yoon-woo, Jung Woo-jin, and Jeon Jin-seo. Their uncanny resemblance to the seven BTS members is what piqued the interest of the BTS Army. In the opening few seconds, there are many references to BTS music videos including I NEED U and Spring Day. As the trailer progresses, viewers are introduced to the characters one by one, each paired with a keyword underlining their challenges: Sacrifice, Rumor, Interest, Poverty, Violence, and Remarriage.

Begins Youth tells the story of the seven school boys — Kim Hwan, Min Cein, Jeong Hosu, Kim Dogeon, Park Haru, Kim Jooan, and Jeon Jeha who navigate through life while dealing with personal struggles. The trailer is infused with emotional and dramatic scenes, giving a sneak peek into their lives, but never missing to highlight the group’s friendship much like the BTS members, who share a strong camaraderie. To set the tone of the web series, BTS’ Mikrokosmos song also played in the background, indirectly linking the two.

The BTS ARMY reacted to the resurfaced trailer, expressing their anticipation. “I’ve seen this trailer on YouTube already but the part where Mikrokosmos kicks in and the line “I want all of us here. I don’t want any of the seven of us to leave” Gets me emo each time,” noted one user. Sharing a picture montage from Begins Youth’s trailer another quipped, “This is phenomenal yall oh my goodness the trailer looks absolutely beautiful.” “Screaming!!!! We need Jin seated with us,” commented a third individual.

The release date of Begins Youth is yet to be confirmed. However, sources claim that the BTS-themed drama will premiere in 2024 on an OTT platform. Presently, the BTS members are all serving in the military.
