On June 4, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) 2024. This year, surprisingly, 67 students emerged as toppers with All India Rank (AIR) 1 and scored a full 720 out of 720. As per the data shared by NTA, a total of 9,96,393 male candidates 13,31,321 female candidates, and 17 transgender candidates appeared for NEET UG 2024. The overall attendance recorded was 96.94 per cent. Among the toppers, four belong to Bihar, and one of them is Tathaga Avatar who got the perfect score.

Tathagat Avatar from Madhubani, Bihar brought glory to his family and community after he achieved the perfect 720 out of 720 score in NEET UG 2024. Tathagat had been preparing for NEET 2024 through online classes and he finally cracked it in his third attempt. In 2023, he scored 611 and was unable to crack the exam.

On his third attempt, he decided to focus on his studies by preparing through online classes from Physics Wallah. He was familiar with the coaching centre from Class 9 and used to enjoy the way the lecture was conducted. He decided to study from the content available on the platform to help with his preparation. Another technique which helped him was to join offline test series. Last time, he fell short of time and could not complete his paper. To avoid that, he practised more.

Tathagat Avatar’s family members are ecstatic with his success. His parents are teachers while his elder brother is pursuing an Engineering degree in Computer Science from a college in Punjab. As per his father, Tathagat used to live in Patna before lockdown. But during Covid-19 amid the changing scenario, his family asked him to come back home.

Tathagat is a student of SK Chaudhary School, Patna. During lockdown, he got plenty of time to prepare along with his studies in school. After the declaration of the results, he was called to the headquarters of Physics Wallah, Delhi. He believes that no specific books can be recommended to aspirants. For him, just the modules shared at his coaching helped him to succeed. Now, he is awaiting his counselling.
