Currently, approximately 1,300 airport cabs are in operation, ensuring safe and reliable rides for passengers. Now, with the launch of 175 electric airport taxis, the fleet is set to expand.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has teamed up with Refex eVeelz to roll out electric taxis for passengers, making traveling eco-friendly and convenient.

These eco-friendly airport taxis can be conveniently booked by passengers either at the airport taxi stands or through the ‘BLR Pulse’ mobile app. With a minimum fare of Rs 100 for the initial 4 kilometers and Rs 24 for every additional kilometer, travelers can enjoy affordable and environmentally friendly rides.

According to Money Control, Hari Marar, MD & CEO of BIAL, announced the initiative during the World Environment Day celebrations at Bengaluru airport, highlighting KIA’s status as the pioneer in airport taxi services. With 175 electric taxis launched initially, BIAL aims to expand this fleet further.

Marar revealed plans to transition all airport vehicles to electric power, emphasizing the commitment to reducing carbon emissions for a cleaner environment.

In addition to private operators like BluSmart and Shoffr, BIAL introduces redesigned EV taxis in two colors: teal, symbolizing sustainability, and pink, dedicated to female passengers and operated by female drivers to enhance safety and inclusivity.

Passengers are provided with a ‘pink card’ containing emergency contact numbers for the duty manager, local police, and ambulance services, ensuring a secure journey for all.
