The honeymoon phase will eventually expire as you and your spouse become accustomed to each other but you may still keep the passion alive by focusing on quality time and communication.

The honeymoon phase of a couple’s relationship is characterised by bliss and carefreeness. Both spouses are only starting to know each other and seem to have few complaints about their significant other. Everything that new companion does – from their eating habits to the stories they tell – is amusing and delightful.

Couples may experience difficulties when their honeymoon period has ended. They may disagree on major and minor issues, or they may question whether they want to continue courting their spouse after their flaws have been exposed. Furthermore, tasks that were formerly enjoyable, such as grocery shopping or cooking, may become mundane rather than exciting.

As the early excitement fades, your relationship may become more subject to stress, boredom, and other responsibilities. To improve the quality of your bond, you must put forth effort and intentionality.

This Miami-based therapist, Maria G. Sosa has shared some tips on how to keep the romance alive. “While we may never be able to get back to the honeymoon phase, we can continue tapping into all the behaviours that make this phase so exhilarating. The point here isn’t to re-create the old feels, but cultivate new feels in this different season of the relationship,” she shares.

So, after the honeymoon phase has ended, one should keep:

  1. Send adorable messages to create anticipation and desire.
  2. Posing questions: keep learning about them (your partner) and show interest in their inner lives.
  3. When dating, be creative and organise activities for each other, ahead of time.
  4. Expressing physical affection through skin-to-skin contact and 6-second hugs and kisses.
  5. Playing: banter, do things for fun, be humorous, and lighthearted.
  6. Becoming delighted to see each other: remember to plan special days.
  7. Recalling your interests and extending a helping hand to one another.

It could be helpful to keep in mind that the end of the honeymoon period is not always a bad thing. In actuality, it frequently occurs naturally in a strong partnership. You and your spouse might be better able to concentrate on creating a long-lasting bond once the butterflies have subsided.
